Greece has got something like 1,400 islands. There is so much of Greece you can’t know even if you’re Greek. It’s sprinkled out all around the edge of the Aegean, all over the place. It’s already a secret place wherever you go, even if it’s somewhere huge like Athens or Corinth. The place enchanted me.

I have to start my blog with my favorite country Greece; there is so much to see that I probably can spend a few months there and still come back wanting more. I could only travel to 3 places, on the positive to that, I need to go back for more.

Athens

This city has so much history and romance in the air that you will probably imagine that you can probably spout poetry if you put your mind to it. While here, stay near Syntagma square. On a free evening, walk around Plaka and Monastiraki. Monastiraki is a flea market and has street dining:you can find nice romantic dining options as well as grab a bite and eat on the way.

Flea market at Monastiraki

Fun :

Funicular/Trek to Mt. Lycabettus for views. They have a restaurant for enjoying your drinks while watching the sunset.

Touristy :

Acropolis Day Tour, Cape Souniyan, Temple of Posidon ( better in evening )

Adventure :

Skydiving, 1 and half hour from Athens in the city at Megara. It is open only on Saturdays and Sundays. Local train will cost 3 euro per way. I did it… and believe me it was the highlight of my trip.

Mykonos

The summer party island of Greece. Beaches of Paradise, and Super Paradise, have DJ’s who play till after sunrise. Even if you are not a party animal you must still visit Mykonos for Venice  ….. confused? Just below the windmills of Mykonos there are  picturesque houses that form ‘Little Venice’ and lay alongside the glittering waters. Best viewed at sunset. It is so called because they resemble the Italian city of Venice. I haven’t been to Venice but can’t imagine it will be prettier than this.

The windmills of Little Venice with the quaint bars and eateries along the sea

Stay at Platis Gialos /  Fabrica Square

Hotels at Platis Gialos.

Experience :

Fabrica Square (City Center) – 1.8 Euros bus one way from most places. Windmills, Little Venice, Shops and sea side/port side restaurants. Vicolo in Little Venice is a great place for drinks by the pier – super close to the water. Nice n Easy, close to the Windmills, is a great place to eat.

Sit by the waves.

Day trip by car across the city. Agios Sostis has great views and 1 restaurant Kiki’s Tavern with limited seating. Ano Mera is a small village with square, has a farm / vineyard  which we did not visit. Thalassa at Kalafatis was my favourite, other beach places if you want to do a lot of beach hopping Agla Anna, Kalo Livadi, Elia.

Thalassa, Kalafatis

Restaurants I would recommend Platys Galos – Blue Myth, Auli Au Thodos, Jacki-O’s at Super Paradise

Santorini

Oh! The white and blue architecture, it’s just impossible to not fall in love with it, while doing up my house I did one corner with the same blue and white which would let Santorini be part of my everyday life always.  Warning: if you are single you may just yearn for someone special to share this out of the world, prepossessing island with.

If you don’t have a travel budget stay at Fira/Oia,  honeymooners can stay at Imrovilgli as that area is a little secluded with lovely hotels ( actually in the whole island of Santorini I did not see a single hotel or restaurant I was not enamored by ) Carry an appropriate dress to click pictures of the sunset ( and you of course ) and the blue dome at Oia.

Fun :

Watch a movie at Kamari Open air Cinema, doesn’t really matter what movie they are showing its got nice drinks and lovely ambience.

Adventure :

Cliff jumping at Amoudi Bay, the trek to the cliffs is also fun with a few restaurants along the sea where you can celebrate your successful daring jump(s)

Relax :

Shopping and restaurants at Fira, Wine tasting at Santo wine, sunset cruise with Spiridakos. https://www.santorini-yachts.com/

In love with the blue and white of Santorini
